Celebrating SALIENT’s 2nd Birthday

Colourful birthday cake with lit candles against a vibrant background, celebrating a festive occasion.

🎉 This week the Building a Secure And Resilient World: Research and Coordination Hub (SALIENT) marks its 2nd birthday!

Established to build a more secure and resilient world, SALIENT has grown rapidly into a trusted national platform connecting government, academia, industry, and civil society.

Over the past two years, we’ve focused on impact through collaborationfunding innovation, and strengthening national resilience. Here are some highlights 👇

Through our devolved funding calls, we are supporting a diverse portfolio of projects addressing some of the UK’s most complex risks and resilience challenges.
These projects span national security, critical infrastructure, societal resilience, environmental change and more, with strong engagement from researchers and practitioners across the country.

  • Had representation at major conferences including; Supergen ORE Hub, Cyber UK, and the Security & Policing UK.
  • Expanded relationships across HEIs, UKRI councils, the Home Office, ONR, Dstl, and many more.

📣 Our network is engaged in themes ranging from security governance and complex systems to community resilience and digital trust.

A major milestone this year was the integration of the Network for Security Excellence & Collaboration (NSEC) into the SALIENT ecosystem.

This partnership strengthens the UK’s national security research landscape, bringing together excellence in security research, futures, and innovation.
