Behavioural and Cultural Resilience
Led by Sharon Clarke, Duncan Shaw and Constance Smith
This work package aims to understand the relationship between individual, community and societal approaches to risk and resilience and how this shapes experiences of adversity. It explores the complex interplay between behavioural traits and cultural factors that contribute to resilience.
Aims and Objectives:
- Sociocultural Analysis: Investigate how different sociocultural contexts influence resilience and the ability to cope with challenges.
- Community Focus: Examine the role of community support systems and cultural practices in fostering resilience.
- Ethical Considerations: Address ethical dilemmas that arise in the context of resilience and cultural diversity.
- Policy Recommendations: Develop recommendations to enhance behavioural and cultural resilience through informed policies and practices.
- New concepts: foster critical engagement with categories of risk and resilience and how these are operationalised in diverse domains, and encourage new theoretical and conceptual approaches
This initiative seeks to provide a deeper understanding of resilience from a behavioural and cultural perspective, contributing to more effective strategies for supporting individuals and communities in times of adversity.
