National ECR Forum 2026

Co-organised by SALIENT, SPRITE+, and NSEC, this 3-day in-person event will bring together Early Career Researchers (ECRs) working in the fields of Security and Resilience with a particular focus on those engaging with, or aspiring to engage with, Government and Industry.
The event responds to shared project objectives across SALIENT, SPRITE+, and NSEC and addresses a recognised need to strengthen pathways between academia, Government and Industry, providing a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and career development.
Objectives
- Provide networking opportunities for ECRs working in Security and Resilience.
- Support ECRs in navigating career and collaboration pathways into Government and Industry.
- Facilitate ECR career development through showcasing and knowledge exchange opportunities.
Event delivery and format
Taking place across three days in Central Manchester, the National ECR Forum will include:
- Keynote speeches
- Roundtable discussions
- Interactive networking sessions
- Lightning talks / poster session
Session topics
- Bridging the gap between Academia-Government-Industry.
- Emerging threats and challenges in Security and Resilience.
- Pathways to Policy impact – turning research into real-world solutions.
- Connecting disciplines in Security and Resilience research.
Eligibility
We welcome applications from Early Career Researchers who have graduated within the past 8 years from a PhD, not including any career breaks.
Expenses
Travel, accommodation and subsistence (conference lunches and 1 x networking dinner) will be fully funded.
